After you learn how to return your boomerang, you can try different games. You can come up with the rules and adjust them yourself. Here are some examples.
Precision Games
Set a mark on the ground that will be considered the center. Throw the boomerang from this point and try to make the boomerang land as close as possible. For each throw, count the steps from the mark to the landing place of the boomerang. The person with the lowest total number of steps after five throws becomes the winner.
The same version of the game, only with a boomerang catch. Steps are counted to the place where the boomerang was caught.
For a more accurate measurement, if space allows, you can mark circles with a diameter of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 meters on the ground, and score points for each throw. You can come up with a scoring system yourself, or use the one that is used in tournaments.
Scoring location | Score |
Inside a 2-meter circle | 10 |
On 2-meter circle* | 9 |
Between 2-meter and 4-meter circles | 8 |
On 4-meter circle* | 7 |
Between 4-meter and 6-meter circles | 6 |
On 6-meter circle* | 5 |
Between 6-meter and 8-meter circles | 4 |
On 8-meter circle* | 3 |
Between 8-meter and 10-meter circles | 2 |
On 10-meter circle* | 1 |
Outside the 10 meter circle* | 0 |
* also means one foot on each side of the circle
Trick Catching
Try to catch with two hands, only with your left hand, only with your right hand, behind your back, etc. You can try any other catches that look nice and fun. The winner is the one who makes the most original catches.
Fast Catch
Throw and catch the boomerang 5 times from the throw position marked on the ground. Catches can be removed from the throw point, but the thrower must return to the position to make the next throw. The winner is the one who has the least time for five catches.
A similar version of the game, only counts the number of successful catches in 1 minute.
The best boomerangs for this game are models with a small flight radius.
Maximum Time Aloft
Throw your boomerang so that it stays in flight as long as possible. The winner is the one who has more time between the throw and the interception of three or five throws.
You can try running two participants at the same time.
Special hanging boomerangs have been developed for such games, but for beginners, you can use any boomerang with a good long flight.
Group games
You can compete individually or by joining teams. Try different versions of games and rules.
For example, you can try a series of throws and catches, where each next throw is made from the previous catch point, and determine the winner by the final smallest distance from the starting point.
